The memorial in the Lindenstraße recalls the dark chapter of East German postwar history. For decades house number 54 served state security as the remand centre for political prisoners, who had to cope with interrogation, torture and humiliation.
Old cells are open for viewing here. There are 2 extensive documentations that deal with the fate of victims of state violence in the former East German Republic.
